Practicing Thai massage is a rewarding and fulfilling modality for the recipient as well as the practitioner. Thai massage is largely becoming one of the most popular and talked about styles of massage and bodywork. The work, based on the principle of metta, the ultimate expression of compassion and loving kindness, is a beautiful flow of energy work, deep relaxing compression, and passive yogic stretching. The practice and our, Flagstaff Thai Massage and Yoga, teachings focus heavily on proper body mechanics thus allowing the practitioner to work for longer sessions and ultimately extending one's massage/bodywork career.

Our program offers over 200 hours of Thai massage courses and Continuing Education credits.

At this time Flagstaff Thai Massage and Yoga offers:

-Northern Style Thai Massage Levels 1-4a/b

Northern Style Thai Massage Level 1: Principles

(22 CE's. Prereq- NONE)

Description:

This workshop is a 27-hour intensive training on the fundamentals of Thai Yoga Massage. The student will learn about theory, history, philosophy and principles unique to Thai Yoga Massage. Level 1 is an abbreviated sequence to the full Northern Style sequence. The asana and techniques administered are wonderful, therapeutic methods for beginning students as well as professional therapists looking for an alternative treatment approach.

Our teaching approach is based on a full hands-on, integrative style learning environment. All of our courses are heavily based on the student having plenty of time to practice, working on a range of body types to hone their skills and developing proper body mechanics and alignment. In addition, the courses are designed to integrate the student with past material as well as material presented in the next, sequential course. In level 1, we will begin to outline, explain, and work with some principles and pathways of the energetic body, called Sen sip.

With completion of this course, the student will be able to give a 60-75 minute Thai Yoga massage session working in Supine, Prone, Side-lying, Seated and Inverted positions. A take-home manual will be supplied and a Certificate of Achievement as well as 22 CE’s will be awarded.

Cost: $400 ($200 registration deposit)

Early Bird Registration rate $350.00. View schedule for details. Register Now!

Northern Style Thai Massage Level 2: Intentions
(22 CE's. Prereq- NSL1)

This workshop is a 27-hour intensive training and an extension of Level 1. The student will continue to pursue more Thai Yoga massage theory, philosophy, principles and technique. We will begin to focus on the importance of the intention behind the work and the therapeutic dance between the provider and the recipient. Understanding that the practitioner’s mental state, transitioning, efficiency and owning the concept of ‘metta’ is just as important as the asana and techniques themselves will truly allow the student to work each unique, beautiful cell and energetic space equally, intuitively and thoughtfully.

Level 2 Thai Yoga massage will provide the student with more asana and techniques while executing asana and techniques already learned in Level 1. We will focus more on becoming aware of smoother transitioning, our own body mechanics and alignment and working from our core. In addition, the student will be able to outline, explain and work one other Sen Sip while becoming more familiar with Sen Sip taught in Level 1.

With completion of this course, the student will be able to give a 90 minute Thai Yoga massage session working in Supine, Prone, Side-lying, Seated and Inverted positions. A take-home manual will be supplied and a Certificate of Achievement as well as 22 CE’s will be awarded.

Cost: $400.00 ($200 registration deposit)

Northern Style Thai Massage Level 3: Energetics
(22 CE's. Prereq- NSL2)

This workshop is a 27-hour intensive focusing on the therapeutic work along the Sen Sip pathways. The course will present the student with the remaining Sen Sip in addition to Sen Sip already learned in Levels 1 and 2. Level 3 will also provide the student with new asanas and stretches to enhance the clearing of these energy pathways. This is an essential course for understanding the true therapeutic quality and essence of giving and receiving Thai massage.

This course will also begin to familiarize the student with some marma points and acupoints important to the therapeutic work of Thai massage. Some relationships between Thai massage, Chinese meridians and Trigger point referral pain patterns will be discussed. More emphasis on body mechanics and transitioning will be implemented as well as discussing the integration and use of Luk Pra Kob herbal compress into a Thai massage treatment.

With completion of this course, the student will be able to provide an additional 120 minutes of Thai Yoga massage technique and stretches working in Supine, Prone, Side-lying, Seated and Inverted positions. A take-home manual will be supplied and a Certificate of Achievement as well as 22 CE’s will be awarded.

Cost: $400.00 ($200 registration deposit)

Northern Style Thai Massage Level 4(a & b): Fundamentals
(22 CE's each. Prereq- NSL3. you may take 4b prior to 4a but not recommended)

This Workshop completes the full Northern style Nuad Boran Thai sequence that is a traditional practice in the temples and hospitals of Thailand. Level 4 is split into two weekend intensives. Part ‘a’ will focus on Supine, Inverted and some Side-lying positions. Part ‘b’ will present Side-lying, Prone and Seated positions.

Our main focus is capturing the fundamentals for practicing Thai massage. Thai massage is an art, science, therapy and spiritual endeavor. The student will combine their knowledge of the principles, intentions and energetics with continued awareness of transitioning, body mechanics while adding individual freedom and intuitive creativity. Much more asana and stretching will be highlighted as well as honing past-learned techniques.

With completion of this course, the student will be able to provide over 4 hours of Thai Yoga massage working in Supine, Prone, Side-lying, Seated and Inverted positions. A take-home manual will be supplied and a Certificate of Achievement as well as 22 CE’s will be awarded for each module (total of 44 CE’s).

Cost: $400.00 each ($200 registration deposit)

Southern Style Thai Massage Levels 1-3
(22 CE's. Prereq- NSL2; must take sequentially thereafter)

These 3-day intensives provides a hands-on approach to practicing Thai Yoga massage using different styles, pressure, rhythm and “tools.” Southern Style teaches the student how to use the feet, knees and elbows as “tools” to work the recipients muscle tissues and energetic body. This is an effective and efficient means of working that promotes longevity to the practitioner’s career. Smaller practitioners can and will develop techniques for working on clients who require more pressure that is safe for them as well as the client.

In addition, you will learn some subtle differences in techniques that are more unique to the Southern regions of Thailand. The student will employ these techniques using different asana in order to provide alternative ways of working the body. Proper body mechanics and working from the core are essential while participating in this workshop.

We will also explore some more advanced stretching and asana by Level 3. Due to some methods and practices of Southern Style, the student will need to have taken Northern Style levels 1 & 2 as a prerequisite. There is some overlap of techniques, asana and stretches between Northern and Southern Styles which can be translated into your own work nicely as you further your practice. This will assist the student with repetition necessary to hone their skills and practice.

With completion of these courses, the student will be able to provide yet another method of practicing Thai Yoga massage technique and stretches working in Supine, Prone, Side-lying, Seated and Inverted positions. A take-home manual will be supplied and a Certificate of Achievement as well as 22 CE’s will be awarded for each course.

Cost: $400.00 each ($200 registration deposit)
